WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
GRADUATE ASSISTANT
Xavier University of Louisiana athletics is currently accepting applications to fill a
graduate assistantship in our athletic and recreation department to work in conjunction
with our women's basketball program. Xavier sponsors nine varsity sports that compete in
the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). Xavier's women's basketball program fields consistent
top-25 squads and has won five of the last eight conference tournaments and has qualified for the
NAIA national tournament 19 times in the past 22 seasons.
Xavier University located in the heart of the city of New Orleans, founded by St. Katharine
Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, is Catholic and historically Black. The
ultimate purpose of the University is to contribute to the promotion of a more just and
humane society by preparing its students to assume roles of leadership and service in a global society.
We are seeking a team player to join our staff that has a passion for women's basketball
and wants to gain some experience in a fast paced athletics department.
Responsibilities include assisting the staff with practice, academic progress, strength and
conditioning, recruitment and retention of student athletes, video editing and analysis,
as well as perform other tasks as needed.
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and have previous collegiate playing or
coaching/managerial experience.
The successful candidate will:
• Successfully apply and be accepted into a Xavier University of Louisiana graduate program
• Have strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills
• Have experience with video editing software
• Possess the ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes and university staff
• Have strong ethical awareness
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Have the ability to work nights and weekends as required
