NEW ORLEANS —
Jarryn Cleaves scored 13 points Friday to lead Xavier
University of Louisiana to a 63-40 women's basketball victory against Texas College.
The Gold Nuggets (3-0) limited the Lady Steers (1-1) to 15-percent
shooting from the floor and extended their winning streak in The Barn to 37
games. This was Xavier's home opener.
Rynika Hebert scored nine points and

which led 43-23 at halftime. The Nuggets took their biggest lead,
57-27, on
Vyaisha Moss' basket with 14:02 remaining.
Catherine Yancy scored 13 points for Texas College. Erica Delley scored
eight and, for the second consecutive game, grabbed 19 rebounds.
Xavier shot a season-low 36 percent from the floor and 41 percent from
the line but outrebounded the Lady Steers
60-45.
Dominee Matthews grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Nuggets for
the second consecutive game.
"At times our year off will show," Xavier Coach Robert "Bo" Browder said.
"This was one of those nights. We're not going to make excuses for it,
but we're still struggling with chemistry at times. That's what we've got
to get better at."
Cleaves had four assists, four steals and no turnovers in 24 minutes.
Xavier will play Concordia (Ala.) at 1 p.m. Saturday in The Barn.
