MOBILE, Ala. — Spring Hill outhit Xavier University of Louisiana .351 to
.141 in the final three sets and rallied for a 21-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-13 women's volleyball victory Saturday.
The Badgers (15-6) won their eighth in a row. The Gold Nuggets (8-7) lost for the second day in a row
and have a 3-match losing streak, their longest of the season.
Madison Seuzeneau had 18 kills, and Katelyn Bobinger had a career-high 16 for Spring Hill. Seuzeneau
and Bobinger combined to hit .460. Bobinger closed the second set with consecutive kills.
Taylor Reuther and
Claudia Haywood had 11 kills apiece for Xavier, and
Ruby Hunt-Thompson had 10. Reuther had 20 digs in her fourth
consecutive double-double and her sixth in the last seven matches. Reuther produced four kills, six digs
and a block to help the Gold Nuggets win a first set against Spring Hill for just the second time in
series history. In their six most recent trips to Spring Hill, XU teams averaged 11.7 first-set points.
Hunt-Thompson and
Jodi Hill led the Gold Nuggets with three blocks apiece.
Spring Hill closed with a 55-30 run after the Gold Nuggets led 23-20 in the second set.
Xavier outhit the Badgers .375 to .057 in the first set.
Spring Hill is 17-0 all-time against Xavier.
The Gold Nuggets will play Belhaven at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at XU's Convocation Center to begin a
3-match home stand. Also next week, Xavier will play host to Gulf Coast Athletic Conference opponents
Edward Waters at 7 p.m. Thursday and Philander Smith at 1 p.m. Saturday.
