DALLAS — Xavier University of Louisiana got 10 points from
Rosie Davis and a career-best 11 rebounds from
Gina Smith in a 52-40 women's basketball victory Monday against Paul Quinn.
The Gold Nuggets (9-6) won their third in row and the sixth in their last seven games. XULA won both games of its Dallas trip.
Davis scored in double figures for the second time this season.
Jada Peltier scored 15 points for the Lady Tigers (3-9).
XULA trailed 9-8 after one quarter, then outscored Paul Quinn 20-6 to take a 28-15 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers cut the margin to 31-26, but XULA closed the third period with a 10-2 run.
XULA allowed its fewest points in a game this season and limited Paul Quinn to 25 percent from the floor. The Lady Tigers were 3-of-22 in the first half, 0-of-9 in the second quarter. XULA outrebounded Paul Quinn 57-34 for a season-best rebound advantage.
Bianca Brown grabbed a season-high eight rebounds, and
Mikayla Bates had eight to match her career best.
XULA allowed its fewest points in a road game since a 67-38 victory at Tougaloo on Feb. 16, 2015.
XULA will play its Gulf Coast Athletic Conference opener at 3 p.m. Saturday against Tougaloo at the Convocation Center.
