NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana hit a season-high .517 Saturday in a 25-8, 25-7, 25-7 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference volleyball victory against SUNO at the Convocation Center.
     The Gold Nuggets (21-5, 10-0) will return to their home floor at 6 p.m. Saturday for a GCAC match against Tougaloo.
     XULA's Kayla Black hit .571 with 12 kills and zero errors in 21 attacks. The GCAC Player and Attacker of the Year last season, Black also had two aces, four digs and three blocks.
     No one else had more than four kills for the Gold Nuggets. Vivica Price-Spraggins hit .667 with four kills and two blocks, and Adili Rikondja hit .500 with four kills and two blocks. Maya Smith had four blocks.
     Taikedra Joseph had five kills for SUNO (2-8, 2-8).
     XULA limited SUNO to minus-.110 hitting. The match lasted 55 minutes.
     In the second match at XULA, Dillard defeated Tougaloo 25-14, 25-15, 25-21 in 62 minutes. Dillard then defeated SUNO 25-13, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20 in 88 minutes.
     At Talladega, Ala., second-place Philander Smith kept pace with XULA in the GCAC standings with a four-set victory against Talladega.
