HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Xavier University of Louisiana
hit .408 in its first 49 attacks and rolled to a 25-11, 25-23, 25-12 volleyball victory
against William Carey.
The Gold Nuggets (24-5) won both their Saturday matches
at William Carey. They swept Bethel (Tenn.) earlier in the afternoon.
"It was a good opportunity to play some competition outside of our conference,"
XULA head coach
Pat Kendrick said.
Ema Causevic had 13 kills — her second most in a
match this season — and hit .360 for XULA.
Vivica Price-Spraggins had seven kills, five blocks and hit .467, and
Jaida Dowd had six kills
and hit .333.
Kayla Black had nine kills, eight digs and two blocks.
Eva Le Guillou had 27 assists and 12 digs, and Jennifer
Torres had 13 digs to reach double figures for the 18th time this season.
Mia Hague had eight kills and Kendall Theriot 16 digs for William Carey (14-16).
For the match XULA outhit William Carey .259 to .000.
The Gold Nuggets have won five straight and 16 of their last 17 matches.
They are 8-0 this season on opponents' floors.
XULA will stay in town for two Gulf Coast Athletic Conference matches
next Saturday at Dillard's Dent Hall: 1 p.m. against Rust and 4 p.m. against Philander Smith.
The Gold Nuggets would win the GCAC regular-season championship outright with a victory
against Rust or a Dillard loss to Philander Smith in the opening match at 11 a.m.
