four of the final five points to earn a 25-19, 21-25, 30-28, 18-25, 16-14 volleyball
victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
XULA (2-2) rallied from a 10-5 fifth-set deficit to take a 13-12
lead, but the Crusaders (3-0) regained momentum and ended the two-hour, 12-minute match on
kills by Mia Hague and Baylee Fairbanks.
Freshman
Kennedy Wade had season highs of 23 kills and 26 digs for XULA,
and senior
Jennifer Torres had a career-high 32 digs. XULA set a school record for assists in a match
with 68 — 32 by
Eva Le Guillou and 29 by
Emi Riglioni.
XULA and William Carey will meet at 1 p.m. next Saturday
in Hattiesburg, Miss.
XULA, city rival Loyola and William Carey each played a pair
of matches Saturday at XULA, and William Carey won twice in five sets. The Crusaders defeated Loyola
25-21, 25-23, 10-25, 23-25, 16-14 in the second of three matches. XULA beat Loyola 27-25, 25-17, 26-24 in the opener.
