NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University
of Louisiana hit a season-high .427 Saturday to earn a 25-13, 25-9, 25-8 Red River
Athletic Conference volleyball victory against Texas College.
The Gold Nuggets (4-5 overall, 4-1 RRAC)
won for the fourth time in their last five matches. Texas College is 0-4 overall and
in conference. It was the first-ever meeting between the teams.
XULA leaders included:

Kennedy Wade with 12 kills, two aces and a .500 hitting percentage.

Angela Egonu with nine kills and a .583 hitting percentage.
•
Vivica Price-Spraggins with eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage.
•
Stella Dineva with six kills and a .400 hitting percentage.
•
Emi Riglioni with five aces — the most in a match by a
XULA player this season — 22 assists and seven digs.
•
Linda Mungai with 17 digs.
The Gold Nuggets found momentum after
trailing 5-1 in the first set. For the match they limited the Lady Steers to a minus-.017 hitting percentage.
XULA had advantages of 51-7 in kills, 9-2 in aces and 42-20 in digs.
This was XULA's first home match of the season.
Six earlier home matches were canceled or moved because of Hurricane Ida.
XULA designated it as a Dig Pink match for breast cancer awareness, and the Gold Nuggets wore pink jerseys and socks.
XULA will continue a four-match home stand at 7 p.m. Thursday against William Carey, which
entered Saturday a half-game out of first place in the Southern States
Athletic Conference.
