DeSOTO, Texas — Xavier University of
Louisiana climbed above .500 for the first time this season by defeating
Southwest (N.M.) 25-19, 25-21, 25-14 in Red River Athletic Conference volleyball Friday.
The victory was the third in a row, a season high,
and the seventh in the last nine matches for the Gold Nuggets (7-6 overall, 6-1 RRAC).
"The plan was to expect Southwest
to keep the ball off the floor," XULA head coach
Pat Kendrick said. "We had to work hard for our points.
I thought we did that for the most part."
Southwest is 7-14, 5-2.
XULA will play the RRAC's only unbeaten team
in conference play, Our Lady of the Lake, at noon Saturday on court 1 at DeSoto Recreation Center.
XULA is 0-3 all-time against OLLU, including two home losses this past season.
This is XULA's first season in the RRAC.
