TOUGALOO, Miss. — Xavier University of
Louisiana produced season highs for points, field goals made and field-goal accuracy Wednesday
in a 94-67 women's basketball victory against Tougaloo.
XULA (7-6) snapped a three-game losing streak.
Freshman Jaleah Lafargue, one of six XULA double-figure scorers,
had a season-high 15 points and was 7-of-9 from the floor.
O.C. Mbakop Ngassam was 7-of-8 from the floor and scored 14 points.
Nia Bishop scored 13 points,
Rayna Ross 12,
Victory Udechi 11 and
Abryhia Irons 10.
Irons had six steals, a career high for her and the most
in a game by a XULA player since Mikayla Bates produced the same amount at home against
Florida Memorial on Nov. 2, 2018.
"Defensively we were much better today," XULA head coach
Bo Browder said, "and we got balanced scoring."
XULA led 43-27 at halftime and 73-39 through three quarters.
XULA made 37 baskets and shot 48.7 percent from the floor to reach 90 points for the second time this season.
Amari Pittman scored 28 points, Morgan Hunter 14 and
Tyra Conerly 13 for Tougaloo (0-5).
XULA has won its last seven meetings with Tougaloo, six by 20-or-more points.
Next for XULA: 1 p.m. home games Saturday and Sunday
against Carver College of Atlanta.
