NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University
of Louisiana surrendered eight more points than it did the previous day,
but head coach
Pat Kendrick liked what she saw Saturday: a 25-12, 25-11, 25-11
Gulf Coast Athletic Conference volleyball victory against Edward Waters.
"Our goal is to play clean,"
Kendrick said. "Take care of first balls, cut down on unforced errors,
be ready when the ball finds us, and communicate. For the most part I thought
we did that."
XULA (6-4, 2-0) outhit Edward Waters
.345 to minus-.086 and spread the wealth, with no player collecting more than
seven kills or nine digs in the 67-minute match.
Kayla Black had seven kills for XULA,
and

Kendall Mack had five apiece.
Jennifer Torres
had nine digs, Black had seven, and

XULA, led by
Semira Blair, had a 12-1 advantage
in aces. Blair's five are the most in a match by a XULA player this season.

XULA swept Edward Waters (0-4, 0-3) for
the second consecutive day and extended its winning streak in GCAC regular-season matches
to 43. XULA is 23-0 all-time against Edward Waters and never has lost a set against the Lady Tigers.
