        Xavier University of Louisiana, playing volleyball for the first time in 104 days and its first-ever countable match during a spring semester, rolled to a 25-12, 25-8, 25-4 victory against Mississippi University for Women in Friday's opening match of the Big Easy Blastoff.
        XULA (4-2) hit .564, its third-highest percentage ever in a match. XULA hit .767 over the final two sets and .917 — 11 kills and no errors in 12 attacks — in the third set.
        Kayla Black had nine kills and eight digs and hit .412 for XULA. Bria Mayes had eight kills, three blocks and hit .636. Vivica Price-Spraggins had four kills in five attacks and six blocks. Jennifer Torres served four of the team's 10 aces and had 10 digs.
        MUW hit minus-.081 in its season opener.
