Huston-Tillotson ends XULA's lengthy conference win streak

DeSOTO, Texas — Huston-Tillotson rallied from a two-set deficit Saturday to snap Xavier University of Louisiana's 55-match win streak in regular-season conference volleyball matches.
The Lady Rams won 19-25, 26-28, 25-22, 25-23, 15-13 after trailing 14-8 and 17-15 in the third set, 11-7 and 18-16 in the fourth set and 4-2 in the fifth.
The Gold Nuggets had not lost in league play since a five-set loss at Talladega on Oct. 29, 2016, in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. XULA's streak consisted of 53 consecutive GCAC victories and two in the Red River Athletic Conference, which it joined in July.
XULA committed 54 errors, 37 on attacks, and hit .109.
Kennedy Wade had 13 kills and career highs of 27 digs and five blocks to become the first XULA player to reach 10 kills, 20 digs and five blocks in the same match. Wade's dig total is No. 2 on the XULA match list for sophomores.
        Other XULA statistical standouts were:
        •  Stella Dineva with 11 kills, four blocks and a .304 hitting percentage.
        •  Vivica Price-Spraggins with 10 kills and a season-high seven blocks.
        •  Kendall Mack with eight kills and three blocks.
        •  Giulia Follador with seven kills and 10 digs.
        •  Taylor McGee with seven kills, six digs and three blocks.
        •  Semira Blair with 32 assists — her most in a XULA match — and eight digs.
        •  Emi Riglioni with 17 assists and all three of her team's aces. Riglioni tied her career high for aces in a match.
It was the fifth time that XULA lost after leading by two sets and the first time in conference.
