AUSTIN, Texas — Jimmie Kelly scored the final four points Saturday
to lift Huston-Tillotson to a 55-51 Red River Athletic Conference men's basketball victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
Kelly's basket with 1:02 remaining put the Rams (5-6 overall, 3-3 RRAC) ahead to stay,
and he tacked on two free throws with 22.1 seconds remaining.
Faite Williams scored 21 points and Kelly 18 for Huston-Tillotson,
which trailed 34-22 at halftime and 38-25 with 16:12 remaining.
Xavier Reaves had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Gold Rush (6-4, 2-2),
and
Lance Williams scored nine, all on free throws.
Huston-Tillotson snapped XULA's eight-game winning streak at Texas venues.
That streak began in January 2018.
The competition was the last of 2022 for XULA Athletics.
The Gold Rush will break for Christmas, then return to the court at 7 p.m. Jan. 3 at RRAC opponent LSU-Alexandria.
