DALLAS —
Xavier University of Louisiana won in multiple overtimes on the road for the first time in 29 years.
XULA prevailed 66-65 in two OTs Saturday against Paul Quinn and reached 20 victories for the 34th time to
extend its Louisiana men's college basketball record.
Cameron Wells, playing with family and friends in
attendance from nearby Murphy, Texas, had 19 points and 10 rebounds. His brother, Cory, scored
10 points.
XULA is 20-5 overall, 11-4 Red River Athletic Conference and won nine of its last 10 games.
For
Alfred Williams, it's his 12th 20-win season at XULA — three as a player, six as an assistant coach and
three as head coach. This is Williams' sixth season leading the Gold Rush.
Paul Quinn, ineligible for the RRAC regular-season title or a berth in the RRAC or NAIA tournaments,
is 22-2 and 11-2. The loss was the Tigers' first at home this season.
Next for XULA is its regular-season finale, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at
home against RRAC opponent Wiley.
