NEW ORLEANS — LSU-Shreveport outscored
Xavier University of Louisiana in each of the final three quarters Monday to earn
a 71-63 Red River Athletic Conference women's basketball victory.
Tiarra Tillison scored 13 points,
Derrica Gilbert 12 and Alona Washington 11 for the Pilots (14-4 overall, 8-2 RRAC).
Washington had five rebounds and six assists.
Shylia McGee and
Nia Bishop scored 16 points
apiece for the Gold Nuggets (10-7, 5-5), and
Abryhia Irons had 12.
McGee grabbed six rebounds, and Bishop had six assists and four steals.
The teams were tied at 18 after one quarter.
LSUS led 33-30 at halftime and 54-48 through three quarters.
The Pilots outshot the Gold Nuggets 48.2 to 40.8
percent from the floor and outrebounded them 34-27.
LSUS ended the Gold Nuggets' 12-game home win streak.
XULA had not lost in its Convocation Center since a 56-51 decision against Our Lady of the Lake
on Jan. 8, 2022. Before Monday, XULA was 6-0 this season at home.
XULA lost for the sixth time in nine games
after a 7-1 start. Next for the Gold Nuggets will be Dillard at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday in the Crosstown Classic at XULA's Convocation Center.
