Corey Dunning and
Jeremy Lindsey
led a dominant Xavier University of Louisiana rebounding performance Saturday in a 72-61 Red River Athletic Conference
men's basketball victory against Jarvis Christian.
Dunning's 12 rebounds and Lindsey's nine were career highs,
and the Gold Rush outrebounded the Bulldogs 58-23. Dunning is a 6-foot-9 forward, and Lindsey is a 5-11 guard.
Lindsey and
Tracy Steele scored 13 points apiece for the
Gold Rush (9-4 overall, 5-2 RRAC),
Lance Williams scored 12, and
Xavier Reaves had 10 points and eight rebounds.
TJ Jones had a season-high six assists for the second straight game.
Tory Cargo, with 14 points, was the lone double-figure
scorer for Jarvis Christian (4-8, 2-6). XULA is 6-0 at home this season and won 40 of the last
45 games in its Convocation Center.
The Gold Rush will be on the road next week for two RRAC games:
7:30 p.m. Thursday at Texas A&M-Texarkana and 4 p.m. Saturday at Paul Quinn.
