Gold Nuggets gaining support but not yet in top 25; 2 home games this week

NAIA women's basketball coaches poll of Dec. 13, 2023

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana women's basketball earned 26 more points than two weeks ago but is in the same position — among "others receiving votes" and 29th place — in the NAIA coaches top 25 poll.
The NAIA announced the rankings Wednesday.
The Gold Nuggets are 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Red River Athletic Conference. XULA is one of eight unbeaten NAIA teams. The Gold Nuggets' most notable victory was 59-48 at home Nov. 13 against city rival Loyola — the Wolf Pack's only loss in nine games. Loyola ranks 19th.
There are no RRAC teams in the top 25. Also receiving votes was RRAC member LSU-Shreveport in 38th place. The Pilots won 68-59 at home Dec. 7 against then-No. 25 Rust and knocked the Lady Bearcats out of the top 25.
Dordt University of Sioux Center, Iowa, received 17-of-21 first-place votes and replaced Campbellsville at No. 1.
Dates of future rankings: Jan. 17, Jan. 31, Feb. 14 and Feb. 28.
