       WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Florida Memorial outscored Xavier University of Louisiana 19-2 in the final six minutes Saturday to rally for a 70-58 women's basketball victory in the Keiser New Year's Classic.
       The Gold Nuggets (7-2) finished 0-2 in the four-team, two-day event. They lost 76-70 Friday to Keiser.
       Chantel Barnett and Quameerah Peterson-Gray scored six points apiece to help the Lions (8-4) erase XULA's 56-51 lead. Florida Memorial scored the final 12 points and took the lead for good on Barnett's layup with 2:03 remaining.
       Barnett scored a game-high 20 points.

Taylor Dewitt scored 19 points,
Rayna Ross 11 and
Gabrielle Morrison eight for XULA, which led 31-30 at halftime and 49-45 through three quarters.
       Dewitt was 7-of-9 from the floor. In the last four games the graduate transfer averaged 19.5 points and shot 58 percent from the floor.
       XULA produced 18 assists —
Jaleah LaFargue had a season-high five — on 21 made baskets but also committed a season-worst 29 turnovers.
       XULA will resume its Red River Athletic Conference schedule next week with two games in Texas: 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Austin against Huston-Tillotson, then 2 p.m. Saturday in San Antonio against Our Lady of the Lake. Those will be part of doubleheaders; the XULA men will play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Saturday.
       The Gold Nuggets' next home game will start at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 11 against LSU-Alexandria at the Convocation Center. The Nuggets are 4-0 in the RRAC and tied for first place with LSU-Shreveport.
