JACKSON, Miss. — Xavier University of Louisiana won 10-4 and 6-3 against Tougaloo in a Tuesday baseball doubleheader.
D'Aires Davis had five hits, including three doubles, and five RBIs for the Gold Rush (11-8) in the two games. For the season Davis was 10-for-18 with four doubles and eight RBIs to help XULA win all five of its games with the Bulldogs (2-15).
XULA trailed 3-1 through four innings of the opener, then scored nine times in a fifth inning that included Davis' two-run double,
Courtland Posey's two-run homer and
Skyler Roberts' and
Cohen Boyd's RBI singles.
XULA scored the first six runs of the second game.
Winning pitchers were
Colby Henderson, then
Nigel Mayfield.
XULA will play host to NAIA No. 4 LSU-Shreveport in a Red River Athletic Conference three-game series at Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans — 5 p.m. CST Friday, then a noon Saturday doubleheader.
