NEW ORLEANS — LSU-Alexandria
completed a three-game Red River Athletic Conference baseball sweep of
Xavier University of Louisiana with 15-11 and 12-7 victories Saturday at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
The Generals (20-15 overall, 12-6 RRAC)
produced 11 extra-base hits, including four home runs, in the seven-inning opener,
then scored seven runs in the final two innings of the second game
to erase XULA's 6-5 lead.
XULA (12-16, 4-14)
scored double-digit runs in four straight innings to cut LSUA's lead to 14-11, but the Gold Rush got no closer.
In the finale XULA trailed 5-1, then tied the score during a four-run sixth
that included
Courtland Posey's two-run double and RBI singles by
Deionte Norris and
Saul Gonzalez.
The Gold Rush broke the tie in the seventh when Posey singled home
Eliam Dudamel.
But LSUA regained the lead with a two-run
eighth and pulled away with a five-run ninth that included Dominic Thibodeaux's two-run single.
Leading the Generals in game one was Blaise Foote, who
had three hits, including two home runs, and six RBIs.
Additional XULA offensive highlights:
• Gonzalez had two hits and two RBIs in each game. Gonzalez reached base
via hits or walks 11 times in the last four games.
• Also with four RBIs in the doubleheader was team leader Posey, who has
14 RBIs in the last five games and hit a double in each of the last five games.
Posey reached base via hits or walks 15 times in the last five games.

Cohen Boyd had two hits in each game to extended his hitting
streak to seven games. The freshman second baseman has an active streak of five games
with two hits.

Skyler Roberts had three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs in the opener.
XULA will travel to Tyler, Texas, for a
three-game RRAC series Friday and Saturday at Texas College.
