STAFFORD, Texas —
Jordyn Manning scored 15 points — her most in her two seasons at Xavier University of Louisiana — and missed only one shot to lead the Gold Nuggets in an 80-60 Red River Athletic Conference basketball victory against North American.
It was the only RRAC women's game Monday. XULA (11-3 overall, 8-1 RRAC) moved to half a game behind conference leader LSU-Shreveport (12-2, 8-0). XULA will visit LSUS at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Manning, a 5-foot-9 forward enrolled in XULA's graduate school, did not start but was 5-of-6 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the line in 24 minutes. Her four steals were a game high, and she has nine steals in XULA's last two games. Manning scored 10 second-half points.
Zaria Harleaux had 12 points and four assists, both season highs, for XULA.
Jaleah LaFargue scored 10 points,
Shylia McGee nine and
Taylor Dewitt eight.
Sierra Headquist had seven points, six rebounds and five assists.
Victoria Moore had 17 points and eight assists for the Stallions (8-8, 5-4), and Keiarra Rivers had 16 points and was 7-of-9 from the floor.
XULA led 20-14 after one quarter, 39-22 at halftime and 59-42 through three quarters. Harleaux's basket at 4:13 of the third quarter gave the Gold Nuggets their largest lead, 56-27.
The Gold Nuggets shot a season-high 63.8 percent (30 of 47) from the floor.
XULA recorded its ninth double-digit victory of the season and its third 20-point winning margin in its last four games.
