Xavier University of Louisiana's
Taylor Dewitt is the Red River Athletic Conference
Player of the Week in women's basketball for Dec. 25-31.
The RRAC announced Tuesday the award,
the second this season for Dewitt and the Gold Nuggets.
Dewitt — a 5-foot-11 fifth-year guard/forward from
Mansfield, La., and a graduate of Mansfield High School and city rival Dillard University —
averaged 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games and shot 64 percent from the floor at the
Keiser New Year's Classic in West Palm Beach, Fla. Against Keiser Dewitt produced a double-double
that included a season-high 24 points.
This is Dewitt's first season at XULA, where she is enrolled in graduate school.
She is XULA's first women's basketball player to win two conference weekly awards in one season
since
Victory Udechi (Gulf Coast Athletic) in 2020-21.
The Gold Nuggets are 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the RRAC. Upcoming games:

• Thursday, Jan. 11 — 5:30 p.m. at home against

Louisiana Christian in the Convocation Center.
