MARIETTA, Ga. - The Xavier women's basketball team responded to their first loss of the season with a rousing, 74-69 win over Brewton-Parker Christian University Saturday in the conclusion of Life University's Running Eagle Classic.
Xavier (3-1) trailed by 3, 22-19, at the end of the first quarter, but rallied in the second to outscore Brewton-Parker (0-6) by nine points and take a 40-27 lead into the half.
From there, the Golden Nuggets warded off all BPCU attempts at a comeback.
Alicia Blanton had a sterling night for XULA, posting a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double.
Shania Swan was good for 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals, while Tiarra Tillison scored 12 points.
Fatima Black came off the bench to provide 6 points and 9 rebounds.
Next up for the Gold Nuggets will be a Tuesday-night home contest against the University of Mobile. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
