DALLAS - The Gold Rush bounced back from a conference-opening loss in a big way here Wednesday, sprinting to a comfortable, 73-62 win over the North Texas-Dallas Trailblazers in RRAC play.
Xavier (4-3, 1-1 RRAC) maintained control throughout the contest and took a 39-30 advantage into the break before outsourcing UNT-Dallas (2-6, 1-3 RRAC) by 2 in the second half.
Senior Elijah Tate was the star of the night, leading all scorers with 28 points, which was one more point than the Trailblazers' top two scorers combined, and adding 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Jamal Gibson had a strong night as well, scoring 16 points and pulling down a team-high 8 rebounds. Bentravin Phillips added 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals.
Xavier remains on the road for its next contest, a Saturday Red River Athletics Conference game against Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico. Tipoff for that contest will be 3 p.m.
The Gold Rush return home Dec. 18 with a conference game against Our Lady of the Lake.
