XULA extends winning streak with 75-66 effort against Jaguars

NEW ORLEANS - The Gold Rush finished 2025 in style here Saturday, downing Texas A&M San Antonio 75-66 in conference play, and picking up their fourth consecutive victory.

It was a key win for Xavier (7-3, 4-1 RRAC), which currently sits in third place in the Red River Athletic Conference but is well within striking distance of first place. League-leading LSU-Shreveport currently boasts a conference record of 7-0.

The Gold Rush defense continued to prove its aggressive bona fides, forcing the Jaguars (4-9, 3-4 RRAC) into 26 turnovers.

Three Xavier men scored in double figures, and six scored 8 or more points on the day that featured an efficient, 45.8 team field goal percentage.

Bentravin Phillips led the way with 17 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. Nasir DeGruy added 15 points and 2 blocks.

Post player Jamal Gibson put up 13 points and a team-high 9 rebounds to go along with 3 assists and 2 steals.

Wayne Randall-Bashay was good for 9 points and 7 boards while Elijah Tate and Torin Bell scored 9 and 8 points, respectively.

XULA will be on a short break over the next two weeks, but will return to action on Jan. 3 with a conference home game against North American.
