HOBBS, N.M. — Xavier University of Louisiana swept the University of the Southwest Friday in a Red River Athletic Conference softball doubleheader. The Gold Nuggets won 5-1 and 6-3.
        In the opener, Arin Dale homered and had four RBIs for the Gold Nuggets (12-10 overall, 8-8 Red River). Amaya Williams had the other RBI, and both players had two hits. Essynce Wallace was the winning pitcher.
        On the road XULA has won four straight and six of its last seven.
        Southwest is 6-26 and 2-12.
        XULA will visit Texas A&M-Texarkana in a 1 p.m. Red River doubleheader next Friday.
