Kamea Uitenham and
Sydney Murray combined for 20 kills and a .472 hitting percentage Thursday, leading Xavier University of Louisiana to a 25-13, 25-21, 25-19 women's volleyball victory against host Huston-Tillotson in the opener of the Rams Fall Classic.
The Gold Nuggets (7-2) will play Friday at 9 a.m. against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and 4:30 p.m. against Paul Quinn.
Uitenham and Murray had 10 kills apiece, and teammates
Kennedy Campbell and
Taylor Parker had eight kills apiece. Uitenham — playing near her hometown of Hutto, Texas — hit .533 in 15 attacks with two aces, seven digs and a block.
Parker hit .471 in 17 attacks, and Murray hit .429 in 21 attacks.

Charity Metcalf had 20 assists,
Michaela Clayton had 15 digs, and
Kendall Evans had four blocks.
XULA outhit Huston-Tillotson .310 to .106 and had advantages of 41-27 in kills and 52-39 in digs. The Gold Nuggets limited Chloe Gaytan, second-team All-Red River Athletic Conference a year ago, to four kills and a minus-.050 hitting percentage in 20 attacks.
