Xavier falls to Life in SSAC play

NEW ORLEANS - The Xavier volleyball team took a tough loss here Friday, falling 3-0 to Life in Southern States Athletic Conference play.

Thursday's contest was also the Gold Nuggets' annual Dig Pink match, when the team honors cancer survivors, cancer fighters, and those we've lost.

Life (17-5, 7-3 SSAC) won the first set 25-14 and the second 25-18, but XULA (8-8, 4-4 SSAC) never gave up. The Gold Nuggets had their best showing in the third set, which they lost 25-22.

Mikayla Matthews led XULA's offense, scoring 6 points on 5 kills and a solo block.

Charlie Henderson added 5 points on 4 kills and a solo block, while Kamrynn Williams added 11 assists and Michaela Clayton 5 digs.

Xavier returns to action Saturday at Noon with a home match against Point.
