Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

XULA continues run of success with 21-point win over Jarvis

NEW ORLEANS - The Xavier men's basketball team finished its 2025-2026 regular season campaign with a third consecutive win, this time a Senior Day, 85-64 blowout of Jarvis Christian.

The Gold Rush (19-9, 15-7 RRAC) are hitting numerous milestones and notching impressive achievements of late. Last week, they knocked off nationally ranked LSU-Shreveport on the road.

This week, they pulled to within one victory of the always-impressive 20-win mark and gave co-head coach Alfred Williams his 200th career victory. Williams is the fourth Xavier head coach in a row to have surpassed this mark.

On Saturday, it was all Gold Rush, effectively from the start. By the half, Xavier enjoyed a 14-point lead, 44-30, and never looked back.

XULA forced Jarvis (11-16, 7-15 RRAC) into 19 turnovers, which the Gold Rush converted into 18 points.

Five Gold Rush players scored in double figures in the game. Bentravin Phillips put up a game-high 18 points, while Nasir DeGruy scored 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds.

Seviuhn Turner and Leon Williams accounted for 11 points apiece, with Turner making 3 steals and dishing out 3 assists.

Forward Kaleb Huggins put up 10 points and 6 rebounds, all on the offensive boards, on the day.

Torin Bell had a highly productive game as well, scoring 6 points and grabbing a game-high 7 rebounds.

Xavier will next participate in the Red River Athletic Conference tournament. Game times and opponents have not yet been announced.
