SAN ANTONIO - The Xavier women's basketball team came up just two points shy of a huge conference road win here Thursday night, falling 59-57 to Texas A&M San Antonio.
The Gold Nuggets(13-9, 9-7 RRAC) trailed 32-22 at the half after TAMUSA (18-5, 15-2 RRAC) went on a 19-8 run in the second quarter. Try as XULA might, it could not overcome that gap.
Falling on the road to the second-ranked team in the Red River Athletic Conference was a disappointment, but there were still bright spots for the Gold Nuggets.
Alicia Blanton, XULA's sixth woman, posted her second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jala Williams added 10 points and Jaleah LaFargue 8.
Xavier remains in San Antonio for its next contest, a 1 p.m. Saturday game against Our Lady of the Lake.
