NEW ORLEANS - A rough half inning overshadowed an otherwise strong performance by the Xavier baseball team, which fell 10-5 to NCAA Division II Lane in the second game of the Ron Washington Classic at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
Xavier (0-2) led 3-2 after 5 innings, but an 8-run sixth proved the difference.Â
For the second time in as many days, Gold Rush centerfielder Cohen Boyd was the star on offense, going 0-for-3 with 2 RBI, a double, and a run scored.Â
Right fielder Matthew Adams went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.Â
On the mound, Chris Nelson took a no-decision, striking out 6 over 3 innings.Â
