ATLANTA - When the Southwestern Athletic Conference concluded its 2026 Men's Basketball Championship Tournament, a trio of former XULA players found themselves atop the premier HBCU NCAA Division I conference as part of the 2025-2026 Prairie View A&M team.
Guard Lance Williams, forward Cory Wells, and forward Corey Dunning all played key roles in the Panthers' run to a conference title and a berth in the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Williams, a native of Baton Rouge, was named to the all-tournament team after scoring 65 total points in the SWAC Tournament, including registering 18 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds in Prairie View's 72-66 win over Southern University in the title game.
Wells, a native of Murphy, Texas, scored 60 points in the tournament, including 22 against Bethune-Cookman in the quarterfinals and 16 against Southern in the championship game.
Dunning, a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, showed his strength in the paint, pulling down 28 total rebounds, including 10 in a semifinal win over Alabama A&M and 9 against Southern.
Before the 25-26 season, the trio had last played on the same team in 23-24 at XULA. Wells departed for Utah Valley in the 24-25 campaign.
Williams and Dunning played for XULA in 2024-2025, then joined the Panthers along with Wells this season.
