Xavier loses weather-shortened game at TAMUT

TEXARKANA, Texas - The Gold Rush suffered some tough luck Saturday in their final RRAC game of the year, an 11-5 loss to Texas A&M Texarkana.

XULA fell behind early, then began making a comeback, only for the game to be called early due to weather.

The Eagles scored 11 runs in their first two at-bats, but then the Xavier pitching staff and defense settled in while the offense scored 4 runs over the third through fifth innings.

Kameron Briggs had a strong showing on the mound, working the last 2.2 innings and striking out 2 while allowing only 1 hit.

At the plate, senior center fielder Cohen Boyd had an enormous day, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, and 3 RBI.

Bryce Thomas, who started at second, went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Lawrence Steed scored 2 run in the game.

Although the Gold Rush's conference schedule has reached its end, XULA still has four games remaining in its season. The team travels to Southeastern Louisiana for a midweek game on Tuesday at 6 p.m., before hosting the United States Sports University for a three-game series beginning April 24.
