XULA falls in road match at Mobile

The Xavier volleyball team lost on the road to the University of Mobile Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to the Rams in Southern States Athletic Conference play. 

XULA (5-6, 1-2 SSAC) has split the season series with Mobile (14-4, 1-2 SSAC) thus far this season. The Gold Nuggets had defeated the Rams in non-conference play at the Big Easy Blast Off earlier this month. On Saturday, Mobile won 25-15, 25-22, and 25-19 to even the series, with a third meeting, also an SSAC game, scheduled for later this season. 

Several Gold Nuggets had solid performances on the day. 

Kennedy Campbell had a team-high 8.5 points, with 7 kills and 3 block assists. Kamea Uitenham was second with 7 total points, with 5 kills, 2 block assists, and a service ace. 

Kamrynn Williams and Sara Marzinot shared the team lead with 11 assists apiece, while Williams led the team with 8 digs. Charlie Henderson added digs, and Zoie Mayberry had a solo block and two block assists. 

Saturday marked the end of a two-match conference road trip for Xavier. The Gold Nuggets return home next week for a pair of SSAC contests. 

XULA hosts Tennessee Southern Friday at 6 p.m. and Blue Mountain Saturday at noon in the Convocation Center.
