Xavier University of Louisiana Athletics

Xavier Brooks Paul is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, and Arizona Diamondbacks. While at Slidell High School in 2003 he was selected to Baseball America's second team High School All-American team after batting .391 with nine homers, 17 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases. He then hit .444 for Team USA at the 2003 Pan American Games. He also played with the 2001 Junior National Team that won a gold medal at the World Championships. He was named the state of Louisiana 2003 Mr. Baseball. 

Paul’s professional baseball career lasted 15 years. He retired from baseball in 2018, and began to attend a prominent international business school, American Intercontinental University. After receiving an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, he began to further his education, finally acquiring a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Specializations of Business.
 
Paul began a career in education in St. Tammany Parish, LA, which led him to discover a new passion for SPED. He spent 2 years as a PARA educator, which assist with the educational developments of students with exceptionalities. This unique career path would lead him into diversified settings that inspired collaborative creativity within the most challenging classroom atmospheres. 

Today, coach Paul is the head baseball coach of Xavier University of Louisiana. His family’s lineage is deeply rooted in the institution’s centennially garnered prestige. His great grandfather, Ruffin Paul Sr., attended the university 100 years ago in 1926.
