Box Score MARSHALL, Texas — Darnell Adams scored 21 points
Sunday to lead Wiley to a 59-54 men's basketball victory over Xavier University of
Louisiana.
LaMario Kersee and Ronald Tolbert scored 12 points apiece for the
Wildcats (5-7), who led 26-25 at halftime and extended the lead by
scoring on their first six second-half possessions.
Xavier scored its fewest points in a game this season
and remained winless on the road. The Gold Rush is 7-0 at The Barn and 0-3 elsewhere.
Olumide Olafioye scored 13 points for Xavier (7-3),
and
Shaun Dumas had nine points, six assists and five steals.
Kelechi Okoroha
grabbed nine rebounds.
Xavier outshot Wiley 40 to 39 percent from the floor and outrebounded
the Wildcats 38-22. But Wiley outscored Xavier 17-8 from the line in
gaining a split of their two-game season series.
The loss was the third in four games for Xavier, which will travel to
Alcorn State on Saturday for an exhibition. It was the second
consecutive victory for the Wildcats, who are 5-1 at home.
