Box Score NEW ORLEANS — Noah Woolridge scored a career-high 32 points Thursday —
including four consecutive 3-pointers during a two-minute stretch late in the first half —
to lead Spring Hill to a 78-68 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference men's basketball victory over
NAIA No. 13 Xavier University of Louisiana at The Barn.
Woolridge made his flurry of 3-pointers during four consecutive possessions to start
a 24-3 run which turned a 25-19 deficit into a 43-28 Spring Hill halftime lead in six minutes.
Woolridge scored 21 first-half points and finished the night with a career-high-tying seven 3-pointers.
The Badgers (16-10 overall, 8-7 GCAC) extended their lead to 21 points early in the second
half and never led by less than six points thereafter.
Nick Brown scored 13 points, Marcus Coleman 12 and Jeremy Price 11 for Spring Hill,
which snapped a two-game losing streak and gained a split of its two regular-season
games with Xavier.
Alfred Williams scored 20 points and
Shaun Dumas 15 for Xavier (20-7, 10-5), which has l
ost three in a row, all at home.
Dannie Woods scored 13 points and had career-highs
of eight rebounds and five assists. Woods was 5-of-5 from the floor, extending his streak
of consecutive field goals made to 12.
Spring Hill outshot Xavier 51 to 45 percent from the floor. The Gold Rush shot a season-low
38.5 percent from the line, making 10-of-26 free throws. Xavier had a 35-33 rebound
advantage, with Woods leading the Rush and Cash Covington grabbing a season-high 10
for Spring Hill.
Both Xavier and Spring Hill will play GCAC road games Saturday. Xavier will visit
Mobile at 7 p.m., and Spring Hill will play GCAC leader and second-ranked
LSU-Shreveport at 4 p.m.
