Box Score NEW ORLEANS —
Devin Andrew scored 16 points
Thursday to lead three from Xavier University of Louisiana in double figures
in a 62-54 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference men's basketball victory at Loyola.
The Gold Rush (15-12 overall, 6-9 GCAC) snapped a
two-game losing streak and handed the Wolfpack (13-13, 5-10) its seventh
loss in a row.
Michael Harvey added 13 points and
Dannie Woods 10
for Xavier, which led 26-23 at halftime. Woods played 13 minutes and
made 6-of-6 free throws after missing the previous 12 games because of injury.

12 for Loyola, which has lost four straight at home. Brock missed 11-of-17
free throws, and the Wolfpack finished 16-of-32.
Loyola entered the game averaging 79.4 points, but
Xavier limited Loyola to its fewest points of the season. The Gold Rush had a
43-32 rebound advantage -- Xavier's best margin against a GCAC
opponent this season -- and outshot the Wolfpack 47.7 to 31 percent
from the floor. Xavier is second in NAIA Division I in field-goal
percentage defense.
Darrinton Moncrieffe's free throw for Loyola tied
the score at 29 with 15:40 remaining, but Xavier scored the next seven
points — two baskets by Andrew and a Harvey 3-pointer — and never lost
the lead again.
Landon Bussie led Xavier with a career-high-tying
10 rebounds, seven in the second half.
Xavier's bench outscored Loyola's 32-15.
Xavier's next game will start at 7 p.m. Saturday
at The Barn against Dillard in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crosstown Classic.
