Jarvis Christian shoots past Spring Hill in Big Easy

     NEW ORLEANS — Reserve guard Chris Davis scored 25 points Saturday and led a 3-point barrage which carried Jarvis Christian to a 94-87 men's basketball victory against Spring Hill in the Big Easy Classic at Xavier University of Louisiana's Convocation Center.
     The Bulldogs (1-1) gained a split of their two games in this event. The Badgers (0-4) lost twice.
     Davis made 5-of-7 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead Jarvis Christian to a 54-47 halftime advantage. He finished 6-of-10 from behind the arc.
     Jarvis Christian made 9-of-14 first-half 3-pointers and finished 13-of-21. Roman Walker, who scored 18 points, made 4-of-6 treys, and Andrew Jones was 3-of-3.
     Marcus O'Key had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Jones scored 11 points and did not miss a shot, and EJ Freeman scored 10.
     Frederick Gatson led Spring Hill with 24 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Todd Martin scored 13 points, Alex Looney 12, Robert Gipson 11 and Andre Gowins 10.
     Spring Hill scored the first two points but never led again. Jarvis Christian scored the next 10 points and spent nearly 25 minutes with a double-digit lead. Mark Farmer's basket gave the Bulldogs their biggest lead, 35-19, at 7:41 of the first half.
     It was the most points Spring Hill had allowed since a 96-81 loss to Saint Francis (Ind.) on Dec. 21, 2006.
     Jarvis Christian outshot Spring Hill 62 to 44.6 percent from the floor.
