JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Edward Waters built a 20-point first half lead Saturday
and held on for a 59-54 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference women's basketball victory against
Xavier University of Louisiana.
The Lady Tigers (17-6, 4-3) got 16 points from Bianca Thornton to earn a regular-season
split with the Gold Nuggets (13-9, 4-3).
Maya Trench had 11 points and seven rebounds, and
Bianca Brown and
Ireyon Keith scored 10
points apiece for XULA, which missed 14 free throws and was 0-of-11 on 3-pointers.
Jermisha Collins had 15 points and eight rebounds for Edward Waters, which led 33-18 at
halftime, and Kadajah Allen had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Gold Nuggets will play Philander Smith at 5:30 p.m. Monday in a GCAC game at XULA's Convocation Center.
