MOBILE, Ala. — Xavier University of Louisiana
starters shot 63 percent from the floor Saturday and rolled to an 86-68 men's
basketball against the University of Mobile.
The Gold Rush (3-1) have won three straight by double digits,
two on the road. This was XULA's largest-ever winning margin against Mobile in Pharr Gym.
William Loyd scored 23 points,
Cameron Dumas 19
and
Virgil Davison and
Rayshawn Mart 15 apiece for the Gold Rush.
Reserves
Ed Carter and
Cameron Wells had five assists apiece.
Will Stanford scored 15 points, Trenton Short 12 and Logan Foutz 11 for Mobile (0-2).
XULA trailed 6-2 through four minutes and took the lead for good, 30-28,
on a Dumas basket at 6:33 of the first half. The Gold Rush led 43-35 at halftime
and three times led by 20 in the second half.
XULA outshot Mobile 55.6 to 38.6 percent from the floor, 52 to 26.9 percent in the second half.
XULA will play NAIA No. 7 William Carey at 7 p.m. Tuesday
at XULA's Convocation Center.
