NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana
climbed to 13th Wednesday, up two places, in the NAIA Division I men's basketball coaches poll.
The ranking is the highest for the Gold Rush since 13th on Oct. 28, 2014.
It's XULA's highest February ranking since 13th on Feb. 25, 2014. XULA shares the 13th spot with Cumberlands.
XULA is one of three Gulf Coast Athletic Conference teams
in the top 25 — Tougaloo is 18th and Talladega is tied for 22nd — and XULA will visit
Tougaloo in its next game at 5 p.m. Saturday. Venue will be Kroger Gym in Tougaloo, Miss., on the outskirts of Jackson.
Both the Gold Rush and Tougaloo are 19-4 overall. Tougaloo is 8-0
in the GCAC, and XULA is 7-0. XULA has won nine straight and 15 of its last 16 games.
Unbeaten Georgetown (Ky.) is a unanimous No. 1 for the fifth time in as many polls this season.
The next rankings will be announced Feb. 19.
