NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University
of Louisiana outhit Edward Waters .387 to minus-.117 Friday and cruised
to a 25-10, 25-9, 25-7 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference volleyball victory.
XULA (5-4, 1-0) and the Lady Tigers (0-2, 0-2)
will meet again at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Convocation Center.
XULA dominated despite none of its players
collecting double-figure kills or digs.
Kendall Mack had six kills and
Angela Egonu five
for XULA, and they combined to hit .625 in 16 attacks.
Semira Blair,
Eva Le Guillou and
Jennifer Torres served three
aces apiece for XULA. Blair produced a match-high nine digs, and Torres had eight.
Bria Mayes had
a season-high four blocks.
"It was a good group effort," XULA head coach
Pat Kendrick said. "Everybody was ready to contribute."
XULA had an 11-0 advantage in aces.
XULA extended its win streak in GCAC regular-season
matches to 42. Edward Waters scored its fewest points ever against XULA.
