JACKSON, Tenn. — Brothers Treviz and
Tavariz Brown helped Lane defeat Xavier University of Louisiana 7-2 and gain a split
of their Tuesday baseball doubleheader.
XULA
won the opener 6-1.
Treviz Brown (3-0) was the starting and winning pitcher.
He allowed one hit and one run, which was unearned, in four innings.
He walked three and struck out five. Tavariz Brown, Lane's nine-hole hitter,
doubled and tripled, scored a run and drove in another.
XULA collected four hits and five walks
against three Lane pitchers and stranded 10 baserunners. XULA's only
lead was in the first inning, when
Jose Fulgencio's sacrifice fly to center
scored
Co Co Simoneaux.
Lane scored one run in its first and another
in the second, then pulled away with a five-run fifth inning that included Tavariz Brown's RBI triple
and Zach Elias's RBI double.
Skyler Roberts singled to center in the seventh
to score
Antonio Rodriguez with XULA's other run.
XULA left the bases loaded in the fourth
inning and stranded two runners apiece in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings.
XULA is 23-7, and Lane is 9-17.
Next for XULA will be a 2 p.m. Saturday doubleheader in Laurel, Miss., against
Southeastern Baptist.
