Second-half rally gives LeMoyne-Owen 68-60 exhibition victory against Gold Rush

Box Score         MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Gerard Wilson's 20 points helped LeMoyne-Owen rally for a 68-60 men's basketball exhibition victory Saturday against Xavier University of Louisiana.
        The Magicians trailed 36-22 at halftime, then outshot the Gold Rush 57.1 to 30 percent from the floor in the second half and outscored XULA 46-24 in the final 20 minutes.
        Lance Williams had 15 points and five rebounds for XULA. TJ Jones had 12 points and three steals. Cameron Wells had eight points and seven rebounds, and Xavier Reaves grabbed 13 rebounds, five offensive.
        Also in double figures for LeMoyne-Owen wass Micah Evans with 13 points.
        For the game, LeMoyne-Owen outshot the Gold Rush 48.9 to 35.6 percent from the floor. XULA outrebounded the Magicians 41-27. XULA committed 15 turnovers and gained 13.
        XULA, a longtime NAIA member, led for nearly 31 1/2 minutes. LeMoyne-Owen is an NCAA member.
        XULA will open its regular season at 7 p.m. Monday against Crowley's Ridge at XULA's Convocation Center. XULA and LeMoyne-Owen will play a second time — 2 p.m. next Saturday at XULA. It will be part of homecoming week.
