DALLAS — Xavier University
of Louisiana women's volleyball produced four with double-figure kills Saturday
and nearly had a fifth in a 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21 Red River Athletic
Conference victory against Paul Quinn.
The Gold Nuggets (17-7 overall, 12-2 RRAC)
completed a two-match sweep of the Lady Tigers (5-14, 5-9).
Kennedy Wade had 14 kills,
Angela Egonu 13,
Taylor McGee 12 and
Stella Dineva 10 for XULA.
Sydney Murray played the final two
sets and had nine kills.
Linda Mungai had 24 digs for XULA,
Alyssa Studvent had four blocks, and
Charity Metcalf had 39 assists — the most
in a match this season by a XULA player — and 11 digs.
XULA rallied from a 17-14 deficit to end
the match in four sets. Murray scored the last two points on a kill, then an ace.
It was the first of two Saturday matches
for XULA, which visited NAIA No. 8 SAGU in the afternoon.
