SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Brian White's basket in the lane with 50.5 seconds remaining in overtime put Xavier University of Louisiana ahead to stay Thursday in a 67-66 Red River Athletic Conference men's basketball victory against Our Lady of the Lake
        Cory Wells scored 16 points for the Gold Rush (6-3 overall, 2-1 RRAC), White scored nine, and Xavier Reaves had eight points and eight rebounds.
        Daniel Helterhoff had 18 points and Tommie Law 17 for the Saints (6-6, 2-3), who led 17-5 through the first six minutes. OLLU had a chance to force a second overtime, but Law made 1-of-2 free throws — he missed the first attempt — with 4.5 seconds remaining. Lance Williams' 50-foot inbound pass to TJ Jones then clinched the victory, XULA's first on an opponent's court this season.
        XULA won for the eighth time in its last nine overtime decisions. The Gold Rush are 14-5 in overtime during Alfred Williams' seven seasons as head coach.
        Both XULA teams will stay in Texas and play RRAC opponent Huston-Tillotson in Austin Saturday. The women's game will start at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4.
