SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Our Lady of the Lake
limited Xavier University of Louisiana to six third-quarter points Thursday in a
60-51 Red River Athletic Conference women's basketball victory.
The Saints' 14-2 surge erased
the Gold Nuggets' leads of 32-31 at halftime and 36-33 at 8:25 of the third quarter.
Tiffany Lopez scored 15 points for OLLU (8-3 overall, 5-0 RRAC),
and Cormia Lewis and Natalia Trevino scored 14 apiece.
Abryhia Irons scored a season-high tying 17 points for XULA (7-2, 2-1), and
Nia Bishop scored 10.
The Saints won their fifth in a row and snapped
the Gold Nuggets' six-game winning streak. OLLU is 19-0 the last two seasons in RRAC games.
The six third-quarter points matched XULA's fewest ever in that period.
This is the eighth consecutive season that U.S. women's college games are played in quarters.
Both XULA teams will stay in Texas and play RRAC opponent
Huston-Tillotson in Austin Saturday. The women's game will start at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4.
