AUSTIN, Texas — Dyana Offutt made 12-of-14 shots
and scored 22 points Saturday to lead Huston-Tillotson to a 76-67
Red River Athletic Conference women's basketball victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
Offutt, a transfer from NCAA Division I University of New Orleans,
scored 14 second-half points to help the Lady Rams (6-6 overall, 4-2 RRAC) pull
away after leading 24-22 at halftime.
Bre'Auna Smith had 13 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for Huston-Tillotson.
Nia Bishop scored a season-high 19 points for the Gold Nuggets (7-3, 3-2),
Shylia McGee had 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals, and
Ashanti LaVergne scored 10.
Huston-Tillotson outscored XULA 24-12 in the third quarter,
then the Gold Nuggets won the final period 33-28 but never got closer than five points in the fourth.
XULA will break for Christmas, then resume its schedule at 5 p.m. Jan. 3 at RRAC opponent LSU-Alexandria.
It will be XULA Athletics' first 2023 competition.
